Is there a swimming pool? When is it open?
Yes. The pool is available for all guests from April to October. It’s one of the most popular spaces in the hostel and the perfect place to unwind after a day in the city.
Is the kitchen available for guests? Is the food free?
Yes. The guest kitchen is fully equipped and available to everyone. You’ll find free pasta, tomato sauce and ingredients to cook whenever you like — and, if you want, you can also eat outdoors in the hostel’s common areas.
Is it close to Ballarò and the Vucciria?
Yes. We’re in the historic centre of Palermo, a few minutes’ walk from Ballarò, the Vucciria and the main landmarks. The ideal base for exploring the city on foot without needing public transport.
Is it suitable for women travelling alone?
Yes. We have female-only dorms, 24h reception and free sanitary products available for guests. Our staff is multilingual and happy to help with anything during your stay.
How can I meet other travellers?
Every evening we organise free events for guests. The bar is open late and the common areas — including the pool from April to October — are designed to bring people together. The staff are always the first to break the ice.
What is the former power station? Is the hostel really housed there?
Yes. We are based in an early 20th-century former power station in the historic centre of Palermo. The common areas and bar preserve the original industrial architecture — high ceilings, iron structures, unique spaces. There’s nothing quite like it in any other hostel in the city.

Pool, terraces and social life — how to meet people at Ostello Bello Palermo
You come to Palermo for the markets, the street food and the baroque. At Ostello Bello, you stay for what happens after sunset.
You arrive, drop your bags, head to the bar. The hostel is housed in a former 1900s power station and the bar is the heart of everything — open 24h, looking out onto the internal courtyard with outdoor tables and a food truck serving beer and spritz. In season there's also the pool: cold beers, music and good company already in the water. Every night something different is on: Quiz Night, Beer Pong, Paint & Sip, Social Drinking Games, Maledetto Karaoke, DJ Set Night, Sunday Matchday. The staff are the first to break the ice. No need to plan anything — just show up and the night takes care of itself.

The internal courtyard has outdoor tables and a spritz truck — that’s where it all starts. In season the pool is the other natural gathering point.
