Every year we host hundreds of school groups from Italy and abroad. Here you’ll find everything you need to plan your trip without any surprises.

Organizing a school trip, an educational excursion, an Erasmus project or a study abroad program means finding a base that’s comfortable, well connected and suited to groups of students. With Ostello Bello you can build your itinerary across Milano Centrale, Milano Duomo, Como, Genova, Finale Ligure, Bologna, Firenze, Roma, Napoli, Palermo and Assisi.
Whether it’s a short school trip, an international mobility program, an Erasmus project or a trip linked to a school twinning or exchange, our twelve properties in ten cities let you create different routes, from a single destination to a multi-stop itinerary. It’s a simple way to let students experience cities of art, culture, seaside and different regions, while keeping a single point of contact for the whole organization.
The class stays together
Multi-bed rooms for the exclusive use of the class, with no outside guests; on request we can separate boys and girls. Private rooms are available for chaperones, which we try to keep close to the students' rooms.
We're here, any time of day
Reception and bar are open 24 hours a day, with staff on site even overnight. For any need, question or unexpected situation, students and chaperones always have someone to turn to.
From breakfast to lunch box
We can organize breakfast, breakfast box, lunch, dinner and lunch box for days out. For diets, allergies or intolerances, please send us all the details at least 7 working days before arrival.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
From how many people is it considered a school group?
From 10 participants, chaperones included. If you’re fewer, it’s better to book online: the best rate is always here on the website.
How far in advance should you book?
As early as possible: from October to February we receive almost all the requests for spring, and during peak periods group rooms sell out fast. If your dates are still uncertain, get in touch anyway: we can hold the rooms for you on option while you decide.
Can I get a quote to bring to the school board?
Yes. The quote we send you is a document addressed to the school, with an itemized breakdown and space for a signature: it’s exactly what you need for the board’s approval.
What if the board meets after the quote has expired?
The offer is valid for 7 days, but if you need more time, just ask us for an option: we’ll hold the rooms for 15 days, at no cost and with no obligation. Let us know when the board is meeting and we’ll work it out together.
Until when can I cancel without penalties?
The cancellation terms are outlined in the proposal we send you: we define them together based on the trip, they’re not the same for everyone.
Does the class sleep on its own or with other guests?
The rooms assigned to the class are for exclusive use: no other guests sleep with the students.
Can boys and girls be split into separate rooms?
Yes, we guarantee it on request. Just indicate in the rooming list how to divide the group, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Where do the chaperones sleep?
In rooms separate from the class โ twin/double rooms, or singles where available. We try to keep them close to the students’ rooms, but we can’t guarantee it: it depends on how the property is laid out and how busy that period is. If this is a requirement for you rather than a preference, please let us know in your request.
How does the rooming list work?
We send you an Excel file to fill in with how guests are divided between rooms: you send it back to us at least 10 days before arrival. If something changes at the last minute we’ll sort it out, but the initial room assignments are no longer guaranteed.
Is alcohol served to minors?
No, never. This is Italian law and we apply it without exceptions, even when the group is on holiday. Alcohol may not be brought into rooms, for anyone.
Who enforces the rules in the evening?
On arrival we give the group leader the house rules, along with the keys: quiet hours from 10pm, no speakers or loud music in the rooms, no outside guests without reception’s go-ahead. The class remains the responsibility of the chaperones. But you’re not alone: reception is open all night, and if you need a hand, we’re there โ calmly and without drama.
Is there anyone there overnight?
Yes, reception is open 24 hours a day, every night, with staff trained in first aid and fire safety. If something happens, there’s always someone awake at the front desk.
Are any special authorizations needed for minors?
Parental consent forms are collected by the school for the trip, as always: responsibility for the students remains with the school and the chaperones.
What documents are needed on arrival?
A valid ID document for each participant, minors included. Remind the students before departure โ without an ID we can’t hand over the key.
What meals are available?
Buffet breakfast or a breakfast box to take with you if you’re leaving early. For lunch, a buffet or a lunch box for days out, and a buffet dinner when you get back.
Does everyone eat together?
It depends on the property: if the class is large, we can organize two sittings โ we’ll take care of it, just let us know at least 7 working days before arrival.
How are allergies and intolerances handled?
Vegetarian and vegan are no problem. Gluten-free we do our best, but it depends on the supplier and we can’t always guarantee it. Let us know everything in writing at least 7 working days before arrival. One thing we’d rather tell you upfront: our kitchens are not certified allergen-free, and we can’t fully rule out cross-contamination. If there’s a severe allergy in the class, let’s talk about it, so we can work out the safest solution together.
Can you issue an invoice to the school?
Yes, an electronic invoice addressed to the school or institution, under split payment. We just need the institution’s details and the CIG code, if required.
Is the tourist tax charged?
It depends on the city and the students’ ages. In some municipalities, school groups on an educational trip pay half rate regardless of age, upon presenting the official documentation. The rules change over time: for certainty, what the destination municipality states always applies.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, โฌ10 per person. It’s paid at check-in in cash or via a card pre-authorization, and refunded on departure if there’s no damage.
Where does the coach stop?
Each property has its own drop-off point and parking area. In some cities the coach can’t enter the city centre, so you’ll get off a short distance away โ good to know before you leave.
Can we leave our luggage on the day of departure?
Yes, storage is available on request and depending on the property’s space: with fifty backpacks it needs to be planned in advance, so ask us when you book. In eight cities there are also self-service smart lockers, if someone wants to keep their belongings separate.
Can we visit multiple cities in a single trip?
Yes, and it’s one of the things we do best: a single point of contact follows the whole trip even if it touches multiple properties, with one proposal and one invoice.
